Well Ill have to say I'm not a very rich kid and based on my last computer purchase (6yrs) ago buying a good build and worth the money stands the test of time pretty good for about (6yrs) lol.

But yea here ill lay it down, Ive been thinking about buying a 8800GTS 320MB. Mainly becuase Im in no position to buy a 600$ GTX, and from past experiences i was looking forward to a card that can outlast for a while since im not buying another computer for 5 to 6 more years, and to me a 300$ DX 10 is the sweet spot in my opinion. (please if you consider anything I am buying a rip off ENLIGHTEN ME !! PLEASE !!)

Infact I am making this purchase near december so ill have time to revise and find better deals so time is not a problem.

Here is my planned build

CPU=Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHZ (E6550)=170$
RAM=Crucial Ballistix 2GB 240-pin (2x1GB) =110$
GPU=nVidia 8800GTS 230MB=300$
Mother=ASUS P5K=215 $ (I intend on changin the motherboard for a cheaper one)
POWER= ThermalTake 430W =40$

This is my build i created from items offa newgg.com Its a very rough build with some time put into it but i will definetly change it if needed too.

Please i really understand the market and how they give big numbers or popular brands higher prices than valued to create a illusion for consumers to buy... I really want to save as much money as i can. So it would be tremendous help for diffrent prices found and better hardware.

Overall my build right now is at 1.4K with everything included TAX+s&H so its pretty good so far i plan on dropping it to 1.2k if i can

Any suggestions or information would help !!!!!

one last thing ....should i scrap this whole custom built and go the way of pre built at stores like best buy ??

ok buddy I think I can help. First, I saved you $2 on the processor ;)

For the video card, I highly recommend you pick a quality brand like EVGA or XFX. They back up their products with a lifetime warranty and have great customer support.
Here is a good price for your 8800:

And a motherboard that should overclock very well:

Also, that power supply definitely will not be enough to handle everything in your rig. You should go for a high quality 500 watt...don't skimp! (unless you like random reboots).

This one is rock solid. $89.99 shipped when you pay with google checkout (takes 30 seconds to register)

Here is one of the best CPU coolers...very important if you plan on overclocking:

Case fans...You'll need a few of these to keep things cool. Make sure to have an intake AND an exhaust! :)

For your RAM, get this...it's just plain awesome. It's $90 on newegg...5 star reviews. Only $54 after rebate here:

That should get you started.

edit: Some of these are SALE prices and won't last long...so get what you can now (at least the case fans, lol;))
