I just got my MSI K7T pro2 and set everything up but my onboard aduio wont work. I try installing the drivers that come on the disc but a prompt tells me "VIA AC97 Audio Chipset is not enabled on this system! Please enable it first on the BIOS then run this setup again"

How ever... Ive gone thousands of time and the Legacy On borad audio is enabled.... any suggestions?

What BIOS revision does your board have? Try getting the newest, v 2.0, from Microstars website. Flash your mobo with the new bios and try again.

Hey...onboard sound is nothing to be ashamed of. I have a BADASS computer based around a K7TPro2-A, and I was more than happy to use the onboard sound. Not everyone uses their computers for the "ultimate gaming rig." And, for everyday uses, such as playing MP3's, watching movies, system sounds, I guarantee, on the same speakers, you wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

Don't remember completely, but the AUDIO section in the BIOS has 3 options maybe: AC97, Legacy and SB16 emulation. Check it out.

UPDATE! I have the drivers installed (no more message that the AC97 audio is not enabled).

Still no sound though... the device under system says that the decive is functioning but nothing comes out of my speakers... also in winamp.... "Unable to create directsound object"
