Help on Audio/Video Config. for my systems. HELP!! Anybody?

I have an Audigy OEM,Radeon 8500 REtail, and a Sony Receiever. Also a TV with only RCA inputs.

What would be the best way to connect my systems together?
My Receiver is the STR-SE591 500w System. Has optical, digital coax, rca input and outputs. IS DTS,DD ready. Has 5.1 speaker system attached.

I was thinking of using a COAX cable, and a mini adapter from the Audigy Digital out and sending it to my system for surround sound, when I play DVD's on my system.(USing Windows XP so it should work)

As for the video I would send it from my computer through S-video cable? to the receiver. There, I would just have the video from the receiver output it through a RCA connocter to my TV. IS this wise? or should I send the video line strait to the TV. Which one would give less distortion.

Computer--Receiver 12ft.
receiver-TV 3-4ft
Computer-TV 14 FT

Any Audio/Video Experts out there care to help me with the best configuration?
I hope I explained my setup well enough. Cables cost alot, and I want to know exactly how I want to run what, before I go out buying them.
3 sites I have looked through

http://www.cablestogo.com/

I was hoping to play DVD's through computer and have surround sound on my system while watching it on TV.
As well as being able to use the speaker setup for Counterstrike.?

I would be gratefull for any kind of advice. I know this is a lengthy post but Plz Try 🙂

I'd guess the easiest way would be to go digital out from the Audigy to the receiver and RCA to the TV. You could go through the receiver on the video signal, the new receivers shouldn't give you much distortion.
If you run the audio out to the receiver you should be able to use the speakers for your pc games but your positional sounds will be off.

I have a similar setup: Audigy OEM, AIW Radeon, Yamaha HTR, and an older Sony TV with one input.
The AIW has digital audio out so I use that, not sure about getting an adapter that'll work from the Audigy digital out jack.
With your present setup run the RCA video cable direct to the TV, forget SV.

I thought all I had to do was get a midi-->RCA converter...than use a digital coax line to REceiver, and it should be able to send any DD, DTS signals to my receiver.(AC-3) Some people have told me this was possible. I know the Retail version of my card, comes with a midi--> Rca cable for the digital out. I hope thats the same as any other cable u can get from a store.

I wish I could do that, however the RAdeon 8500 only has S-Video out. There isn't a RCA out.

As of right now.......Midi--> Rca.....Run 12ft digital coax cable from the right signal of the converter(Someone told me this)
As for video.....S-Video 12ft to my receiver. Than a 3 ft RCA cable from Receiver to TV.
Most newer Receivers, can convert right?? Somone told me he thought they only send RCA--RCA......and Sv--sv, and they don't convert between the 2.
On the back of my receivers....there are 2 video options....each as a svideo in and out..and RCA in and out.

Just hook up a mono-mini plug from the Audigy to the digital coax input of the receiver. All you need is a cable with the mini plug on one end and an RCA on the other end. Radioshack has them. If you want to switch bothe video and audio, just attach an S-video cable to the video-in of your receiver that corresponds to the digital coax input ( if coax is labeled 'DVD', then s-video cable also goes into s-video in labeled 'DVD').

You can get a S-vid converter(alot of vid cards come with one that has S-vid for your vid card on one end and an RCA female end on the other and then you just use an RCA cable). Or you could just run the S-vid to the receiver and then RCA to the TV. S-vid and RCA shouldn't have any problems, but if you were trying to do component vid, then the problem would arise. If your signal clarity is bad, just go straight to the tv with the converter cable like I mentioned. You should be able to find one at Radio Shack if one didn't come with your video card.

For sound, you shouldn't have any problem using the mini adapter going to the receiver. If your card had digital coax/optical out like the Platinum does, then I would use that but since you say it doesn't, you will have to use the adapter.
