Help on a trip to a southern destination

Today someone at university asked us what we thought about going on a trip to like Cuba or somewhere "exotic" like that. I would like to narrow down some destinations, either because they are just too touristic which often means too expensive... or maybe because of current political situations, like in Haiti or the Dominican Republic I think (?? I know nothing about international politics).

Basicly just an all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink package in a clean hotel that is located pretty much on the beach. A clean hotel doesn't mean an expensive one. I have no idea what are the more affordable destinations, as we will be staying there a week I suppose.

The destination is one question, the other one is where to look for that kind of stuff. The best would be to buy a package where everything is included, the plane, the hotel, etc. I searched on Google for some Travel Agencies and I found a couple of Canadian ones. Expedia.ca seemed to be a bit more expensive than smaller agencies... I dunno. Anyway since I began to drool over that today, I didn't check with real travel agencies, but can compete with online prices?

Anyway if you have any suggestions for destinations or travel agencies, they would be appreciated. Remember that we would be leaving from either Moncton, Halifax or Montreal... and we want to do everything with a canadian company to save some hassles.

St Thomas and St John are both very nice, plus no hassles with money/passports.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and it was great.

sandals or beaches mostly in jamaica(sandals is only for couples) Been to sandals a few times, and its awesome never made my way to beaches, but if its anything like sandals its awesome(owned by the same company). If you want me to recommend you a travel agent PM me.

edit: ohh yeah I guess travel agents can match online prices (if you find one lower) for sandals and I'm assuming beaches.

Also, I agree with Fausto in that the Virgin Islands would be wonderful.

N/M You're Canadian...forget what I said about American citizens and Cuba 😉
