hi, I recently changed my case for my computer (it was cheap and i was able to go from 250 to 350 watts powersupply ^^)
i don't know if my cheap motherboard is about to go or, it doesn't boot.
actually, nothing happens if i turn the power on!
but with patience, it boots up sometimes.... (like this time right now)
i saw in one of post on the forum that this could be from short or loose card (definitely not a loose card... double checked, and still checking in hopes)
i think there's some sort of short... so i wanted to know how do you get rid of this "short"?
i'm not a technical guy so... please...
i even thought of buying a new m/b ...
any suggestions would be great

i have a ... (i don't overclock ^^)
athlon xp 1700 (<- very recently upgraded, everything else is about 2 years old)
shuttle ak31 v3.1
geforce2
512mb ram
sb live and a nic...

thanks

If you think you have a short, pull everything out and sit the mobo on a cardboard box to test it. Be really careful doing this of course.

the pc worked b4 you changed cases? I would switch power supplies first. Make sure the new 1 has more than enough current on the 5v and 3.3v lines. And then pull the m/b out.

edit: You could put the old processor back in, but that's almost as much of a hassle as yanking the motherboard, what with applying the goo and all.

k, i switched the powersupply from old case, found out no difference... i guess it's either the case or something.. i rebuilt everything and still didn't work the way i wanted it (ie. normal).. i read in some article that ak31 3.1 sometimes refused to boot, is shuttle a unreliable company? i bought the board 'cuase it was so cheap...

thanks
