Help on a msi turbo bios flash.

I bought this new board. I have been working with pro2a's that were bought and set up by other people. The first confusing thing was that the jumper for the bios was set to clear. Do all new motherboard come this way, I am glad I read through the manual and checked and saw it.


Anyway, I never have flashed the bios and wondered if someone could point me to an article or tell me how and lmk which is the best to flash. I am putting a regular 1 gig tbird in it and initially do not intend to overclock, but may want to flash it later to do the overclocking and drop a 266 fsb tbird in it.

Anyone giving me help will be appreciated.

if your not overclocking it i wouldnt mess with the bios at all at this point, just pop your stuff in there and see how you like it.

Thanks, that is what I was going to do at first, I just did not know if there were any glaring problems with this new board.

Does anyone know if the clear bios thing is common on brand new mobo's?? (This is my first new board, that I did not buy already setup).

The manual is wrong about the clear CMOS jumper setting on this board. I don't remember what it should be but just reverse what the manual says, ie, if it says 1-2 is clear then 1-2 is normal and 2-3 is clear.

Well you may have saved me a headache, but it seemed weird for it to come in that position, but the manual clearly states the coms clear is the position it came in. I reversed it, but have not installed it yet. Going by the other board, it seems the same as the pro2a as far as the jumper settings go??

If its in the wrong position it won't boot up at all. I know, I tried it

The manual is exactly opposite of what it should read. The MB should have some shipped with the jumper on save.

I just switched it back to the way it came and it is now the same as the pro2a I have. It is funny how the manual is completely backwards, I guess I should not read the manual first huh??
