I just installed a brand new Antec TruPower Trio 550w PSU and whether it's on or off (as long as the switch on it is On) if you put your ear up against the back air vent area you can hear little "bzzit bzzzit bzzit" electrical noises. They're not easy to hear, but like I said, put your ear up near it and you can hear these little noises.
Now I'm pretty sure most PSUs would just have a consistent low buzz sound but this is a distinct pulsing sound, usually three little bzzzts, a pause, and it repeats.
I need to know if this is normal or if it's defective or a concern. There's nothing quite like spending close to $100 for a computer part and having to wonder if it's flakey. :x
Please let me know if that noise is normal or not (even though I've never had a PSU do that before) so I can feel safe leaving the house tomorrow without wondering if it is going to short somehow or catch fire or something (even with the PC turned off).
Obviously I can't turn the switch on it Off everytime I turn off the PC or the battery on the motherboard will run down rather quickly and then the BIOS won't remember my settings, so this needs to be figured out asap.
Thanks!
