HELP. NT4.0 Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) won't fit on 1 floppy

JEDI

Lifer
i'm running NT4.0 server w/sp6a. Previousy the ERD did fit on 1 floppy. But I did an update, and now the Software file is 1.9megs.

What to do? THX!

The SAM file is often too big to be backup on 1 ERD floppy. There is a utility on the NT Resource Kit for this. I think the name of the utility is samback or something like that. I'll try to look for it the next time I go into the office. Telecommuter here. 🙂

Use regback to make compacted backup copies of your registry.

The problem is that you can't get these compacted copies back in under the OS while it's running; you'll have to use recovery console.

Is this a BDC? If so, there's a trick that can be used. PM me.
