Hello everybody,

My brother is having problems when watching dvds. He has a lite-on cdrw/dvd drive on a p4b mobo running w2ksp4.
He has a Chaintec GF3 w/ a sony gs400 analog monitor running 53.03 nvidia drivers + directx 9.0 ( latest from MS)

We installed PowerDvd XP & WinDVD 4 . We get the following when trying to watch a dvd movie.

WinDVD 4 : We get the menu's fine, but when we select the movie we get just the audio.

PowerDVD: The movie doesn't even come up. We get the following message:
Error Code: F4D41436 The TV Out port of your display card is not working properly.

Anyone have an idea what's wrong ?

Thanks for your help

Regards,
Jose

From the Power DVD message it seems as if you have the video card output set to composite or svideo output, under the video card settings make sure that the monitor is your primary output & maybe even disable the composite/svideo output.

spooky617,
Thanks, I'll check the vid card settings to make sure that the monitor is the pri. output device.

volrath,
you may be right. Both dvd software players say "XP", maybe they have a problem running under w2k.

I got the powerdvd version w/ his lite-on cdrw/dvd writer, & the windvd w/ my p4c800e mobo.

I'll look for an old version of powerdvd that I use to have, maybe it will run under win2k.

Regards,
Jose

PowerDVD and WinDVD, although they're marked as "XP" should run fine under 2000. I'd check your video card settings, and like spooky617 said, check that the monitor is the primary output device, disabling TV-out if it's turned on.
