Hi, my friend got a new computer and then updated to sp2. but she found transferring music to her mp3 was really slow, and i calculated it was ~0.8MB/s = USB1. Isn't sp2 supposed to provide USB2 already?

edit: how can this be fixed? thanks in advance..

Check your mobo company's website for all drivers... plus make sure that your friend has a motherboard that even supports usb 2.0. Check if it's the same slow speed in all ports.

if the motherboard doesn't have USB 2 controllers, SP2 won't help you. the hardware needs to be there first.

If her mobo supports USB2.0, then right click my computer, go to properties, -> hardware -> device manager -> usb controllers. Right click usb controllers, and click on properties. Then update the drivers.

also if the motherboard supports usb2 then it might also have some usb2 ports and some usb1 ports

Is there any way to tell which are USB1 and USB2? It doesn't say in my motherboard manual. I had always assumed they were all USB2.

This page says you have 4 USB 2.0 ports.

He's not talking about his own PC, it's his friend't new PC, and he doesn't know the model/manual of it.

Here's another thing... does the MP3 player support USB 2.0? I know just about 99.9% of new mp3 players support it, but is this an old mp3 player?

Also, if you can find out the motherboard, you definately might want to try installing the latest chipset drivers from the chipset manufacturer.
