Hey all,

I hope everyone is doing better than I am right now. I updated my nvidia nforce4 ultra chipset drivers to v. 6.65 and updated the bios to 1011. Now my hercules digifire 7.1 soundcard is not being recognized at all. In fact, in device manager it's not even listed anymore and i have the legacy audio drivers which i cannot uninstall. Any ideas??? Thanks

i take it the digifire is not onboard.... so try going into your bios and disabling the onboard audio.

it should detect it now, but if not - remove the card, boot, remove all the drivers/softare for it, shutdown, replace the card, and install fresh drivers.

hope it works.

Yes the digifire is not onboard....I have the onboard disabled and I have tried to take the car out and etc. in that order...But for some reason it's not getting recognized anymore..

I don't know if this makes a difference but I updated the bios using the Asus tool in Windows Xp. Also now that I remember, the first time i booted the computer up after this i believe the onboard soundcard was enabled. Then after realizing my digifire was not being recognized I went ahead and rebooted, disabled it, and no luck ever since.

just start from scratch like acole said. remove it, delete everything that came with it, replace it, boot (make sure you disable onboard when you boot this time) then see what happens from there.

could it be possible that my new bios is not supporting my soundcard? no right? that should be an operating system issue......

not likely.

check the manufacturer FAQ's too and see if anything there seems to mention your problem.
