Help! no sound come from the center channel of my creative Inspire 5200 speakers

I'm sure that all the 5 speakers are good since I exchanged them and still no sound from the center channel. This is really annoying because I can not hear dialogues in Dolby Digital (5.1 sound) DVDs. I am using the onboard 5.1 sound card in the P4S533 motherboard. I am sure the setting and connection are correct. I don't have an extra sound card in hand so I can not test my onboard soundcard. But it used to be working fine.

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Does this hapen in only your DVD application, or does nothing come out of the center speaker normally?

I know that I had a problem in PowerDVD a while back where I had to download new soundcard drivers and a new version of PowerDVD. It was a pain in the ass.

Only when I choose 5.1 mode for the sound card. Otherwise it is working fine.

BTW, I use PowerDVD too. How did you solve your problem?

I solved it by using PowerDVD XP and making sure the SPDIF was ON and my speakers were connected through the digital audio out connection on the soundcard.

But there is no digital connector for my speakers. :( What can I do?

Hmm... that sucks, I just noticed that with Newegg's pictures. If there's a way to reroute the analog audio jacks on the motherboard, there might be a way to do this. Otherwise, I'm afraid I have no solution for you to try. :frown:

What do you mean by "reroute the audio jacks"? Do you think there is something wrong with my onboard soundcard?

Like taking the line in and mic and configuring them to be the rear out and center out. I know you can do that with some onboard sound solutions. Nothing is wrong with your onboard sound chip.

They are rear out and front out now. There are only 3 jacks on the sound card. When I choose 5.1, those 3 jacks become rear out, front out, and center/sub. If there is nothing wrong with my onboard sound, then it is a software problem? I downloaded and intstalled the lastest driver from Asus. It didn't help.

This may be a silly question, but where can I find AudioHQ? I know there is an audioHQ for creative sound card. But there is only a mixer for my integrated soundcard.

I installed the lastest driver from Asus's website. But it is dated last June.:( It didn't work.
