HELP! No display on boot!

Iinstalled a radeon 9700 after my geforce2 I had for a while and started experiencing reboots due to not fully getting rid of the nvidia drivers. That was a few days ago. So, I planned on formatting tonight because I have time. I accidently knocked something loose when I installed the video card and my floppy drive wasnt being recognized. Thinking I might need it when I format I opened up the case and reseated the ide cable. When I turned it back on it powered up, heard it check the floppy then just sat there, no display.

I have no idea whats wrong. I took all the ide cables out and reseated them and the power cables, put my old geforce 2 back in there but still no display. Did I goof something up on my motheboard and its broke now?

Here is my setup:

Asus A78NX Deluxe bios 1005 pcb 2.0
Athlon 2500+
512mb pc2700 cosiar
WD 120gb 8mbcache
Antec True Power 480watt psu
Antec 1080 case

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

A couple of initial thoughts:

  • Video card's auxiliary power plugged in? Sorry if that's too obvious 😱
  • Try removing and re-seating your memory
  • Ream that card into the slot very firmly if there's any gold contact showing above the edge of the AGP slot
  • Try with all the drives unplugged from the motherboard
  • Reset the CMOS
  • Hold the Insert key down before & during power-up
Good luck, hope it's nothing major! 🙂
