I upgraded CPU to 633 Celermine running at 950 on Abit BX2.0 with stock fan/heatsink at 1.75volts.
All ran well until last evening when I booted. I got the WIN ME splash screen then the cursor and my desktop background but no icons or task bar or start button. Right clicking the mouse does nothing and CTRL-ALT-DEL brings up a box that has no programs running. If I boot into safe mode by fitting F-8 and selecting safe mode, my safe mode screen is also icon- less albeit with "SAFE" listed on all 4 corners.
If I reboot, it runs scandisk, but still no icons once it boots.
I also tried going back to the 633 default, but the same thing happens, so I don't think it is the CPU speed or heat. Something with ME, but what?
