HELP! Nightly backup tape stuck in drive

We have a SONY AIT2 tape drive in one of our servers that performs nightly backups. Today we were greated with a warning in Vertias Backup Exec that there was a media failure while running last night. So I go to eject the tape... and nothing... just the "busy" light flashing no matter what I do.

How the hell do I get that thing out of there now?

Open it up and remove the entire tape drive, tape and all. Then let a qualified technician try and get the tape out.
