Help! NFS Posrche Unleashed started freezing!

I have been playing this game for a while and only rarely did it freeze on me. It constantly freezes at the exact same point in one particular track. If I use another profile it doesnt freeze. All I did on the freezing profile was add new parts to a particular car. Anyone ever expirierience this problem with a particular profile in NFS-PU? My system is as follows:

P3 650E
ASUS p3v4x mobo
256meg ECC mem CL3 133mhz
ASUS 6800 DLX geforce ddr using 516dr2 beta drivers
Adaptec 2940uw SCSI
SBLIVE!
3 IDE cdrom/burner/dvd
All HDs are uw scsi

The only thing I am thinking of is the directx 8 beta I installed a few days ago. But why would it affect only one profile and not the rest? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same problem and have stopped playing the game because of the annoyance factor. My system is very similiar to yours. Mine froze the first time on the 5th? track on the test driver races. It would freeze randomly during the minute of driving but I finally made it past. (tries it on two profiles) Now it freezes on another course further on in the test drive sequence. Just like you, it freezes on the same part of the track.

Maybe there is a patch I don't know about.

Any other commiserators?

hey i just downloaded the demo just to see if it was better then the ones before and right on startup of the game it freezes it has only once actually race and that was for about 5 seconds!!!

WHY???
It seems from the 5 sec of gameplay that i encountered that it was really a big enhancement or maybe it is my new card
