Hey all,

I just got an unlocked Barton 2500+ in the mail today and of course, as soon as I verified a post and boot into XP, I went for the overclock.

I'm using 2x512 MB of PC2700 HyperX memory. As soon as I try to increase The FSB above 166, I get one long repeating beep. Ok... so I thought I just need to relax the timings... I reset the bios, and proceded to change the CAS latency setting. I figured that I would try to change one setting at a time. I changed the CAS latency to 3.0, and I got the same error beep. What is odd, is that this is at the default FSB.

Why wouldn't memory work at relaxed settings at the default FSB? I'm stuck. Am I missing something?

I know this processor has potential... it is running as I post at 13x166 using default voltage.

TIA

The problem is fixed.

Updated to the latest bios and it seems to have done the trick.

I relaxed the timings, and I'm now running at 11x200 at default voltage.

HyperX RAM is DAMM fast at 2-2-2-5-1T. I'm currently running 2-2-2-6-1T with my 512mb HyperX DDR333 RAM, the fast I can do with my board. Everything is sooooo fast.

hahaha you crack me up
oc'd right out of the box

if you didn't have to boot it at default speed to enter the bios you prob woulda never ran the components at their defaults

nice oc there, i'm glad the bios update fixed it for you
