HELP! New system won't boot!

So i built a new system, and i put in:

3000+ 64bit Athlon
2x 512 Corsair PC-3200
Geforce 6600 GT (I now kind of wish i went ATI...)
Serial ATA drive 36-gig raptor
Enermax 420Watt PSU (28Amperes on 12V i think)
2 dvd roms

I built it, it was working perfectly fine for a little while in 2D mode. I was in windows for about 3 hours just fussing around. Then i boot up WoW. The graphics looked great, no ghosting/weird textures/lines or other signs of graphics problems. I was monitoring heat periodically (using my hand, not measuring), and the CPU was cool, but graphics card was HOT HOT HOT (on the PCB right behind the chip). The system just cut out, and now won't boot at all (no POST, no fans, no beeps, absolutely dead). This has happened before when building a new system, but then I let it cool, boot it up, and the problem never resurfaces. This time I can't get it to boot again. What can i do?!??!

I hope you did not fry it (electrostatic discharge).
 
I am always careful about elctostatic discharge, so when i touch the computer, i touch the case and then PSU first. Also, I didn't touch the computer at all when it stopped. And if it were the GPHX card or RAM, wouldn't it boot but not post (and get beep error messages from the MOBO?)
 
I think you are going to have to source some secondary parts to test with. Personally, I'd disassemble - and reassemble making sure to seat everything very well. If still no boot - you are going to have to try another power supply, another video card, another motherboard - etc to really determine what is going on.

 
Maybe a quick check, assume you have an auxillary power connection to the card - I'm not familiar with 6600 - check to see all's well there. A friend had a loose y connector to his card and it caused strange things until we stumbled across it. Otherwise I'd follow recommendations above.

Edit: clear cmos after checking and reseating.....
 
Well, the first component I tested was the culprit (lucky testing, I guess). It was the god damn Enermax PSU. This is my first and definitely my lat Enermax product. I am so angry ATM.
 
Is PSU faliure common? I've always used antec, and never had a problem. But i always thought Enermax were good and wouldn't fail (at least not new)...
 
No, but the symptoms you put forth are usually powersupply failures in my experience due to the fact that if the motherboard is getting power - 'something' will happen usually.

I was also assuming you knew what you were doing and had put together the system properly.
