my specs:
amd athlon 64 3200+ 939 oem chip (new)
msi neo2 platinum edition (new)
cooling is thermalright xp-90 with 92 mm panaflo fan
artic silver applied to cpu core
2x512 pdp (patriot) pc3200 with xbl technology (new)
200gb ide seagate hd (new)
evga geforce4 ti4200 128mb (used from my old working comp)
enermax 420 watt noisetaker (new)

right now i hooked up the video card, ram, cpu, and hd. hd is on master on ide1. and vid card is in agp slot.
i applied artic silver 5 just like it said on the instructions here http://www.arcticsilver.com/ar...ilver_instructions.htm got the thermalright xp-90 on just fine. i know my power supply is fine. it is powering up the fans on the cpu and northbridge and powered up my old computer as well. i tried booting with 1 stick of ram first in the first dimm slot. no go. i then proceeded to swap dimms and try 2 dimms. still no go. (computer powers up but nothing is displayed on the monitor. well... fans run at least.)

what steps should i take from here? try another video card? maybe bad cpu or motherboard? try other ram? argh so frustrating!!! any help would be appreciated? live in illinois? i'll drive to your house!

thanks,
extremely sad

Is the monitor new, or known to work? Are you hearing any beeps when you power the computer on? If so post the beep sounds (short, long, etc).

Also, is the board's BIOS revision new enough to run a 90nm CPU? If not, you're stuck. 🙁

i just put mine together yesterday. put 4 sticks of ram in. couldnt get it to post.

i got mad at the manual because of no trouble shooting. lol.

then i found out i should hook up the usb/d-led device and the error lights was telling me it was a memory problem. i took 3 sticks out. left one in the #1 slot. and it post. i put in another stick in the other green slot and it post. i put one in the purple slot next. no post. just a beep every 4 seconds. ram problem, i took that stick out and put it in slot 1 for the green and it post. i can get all my rams to post in the green slots. as soon as i put one of them in a purple one. no post, error beeps.

now im stuck with 2 sticks of ram that i can use until i figure out how to get the purple slots to turn on. maybe they are shorted out. i dont know.

maybe this will help ya.

hmm no beep sounds at all. metalmarine if you read the manual u will read that the green ones are used for 1 stick of ram only. it shows the various ways u can combine ram in the manual. the bios is made for 939 boards. mechbgon how do i know my revision? i sure hope it is good enough cuz i bought one of the most popular boards recommended on this forum

i got this board the same day newegg had it in stock for the first time, one of the first to get it 🙂

funny thing is. i just got it all together yesterday. and today.

did u hook up the usb / d-led device? hook that up and see what the error light says. see whats its hanging on.
