Have just put together the following computer:

MSI KT3 Ultra 2-RU
Athlon XP 2100+ Retail with HSF
512 MB Crucial PC2100 DDR
MSI Geforce4 Ti 4200, 128MB DDR
Philips Seismic Edge (705) sound card
WD 120GB HDD
+ DVD rom, CD-RW etc.

Installed Win XP and for some reason both the BIOS and Win XP report the CPU as AMD 1500+ running at 1.3GHz!!!!!

This is a brand new motherboard so I assume the BIOS is brand new. What am I missing? What's the problem?

Any help please.

Thanks

k the problem is really easy.

Not exactly sure how your mobo does this so check your manuel.

But you need to change your FSB either jumper or setting in the bios to run at 133Mhz FSB. Did the math it works out right.

13 x 100mhz fsb = 1300mhz thus a 1500+
13 x 133mhz fsb = 1733mhz thus a 2100+

^^^ what he said. you are running a slower FSB.

oh read the manual

Thanks guys.

The Motherboard default was 100 Mhz fsb. Now that I changed the FSB to 133 (done throught BIOS) I have an Athlon XP 2100+ !!! 🙂

Thanks again.
