both comps have the same workgroup etc.

on the win98se machine, i can see the win2k. when i go to access it, it gives me an error saying "you don't have permission to access this resource".

on the win2k machine, i can't see the win98se machine. in my network places, i can't see anything.

please help

thx

ok, the win98se machine can fully see and access the win2k machine. i did'nt even have to supply a pw.

but, on the win2k machine, i see no other computers in the workgroup.
please help

thx

Two possibilities: One is that you don't have anything shared from Win98SE machine; Second is that you somehow disabled "NetBOIS over TCP/IP" on Win2K and Win98SE has NetBEUI protocol installed.

So share something from Win98SE and enable "NetBIOS over TCP/IP" on Win2K.
