Help Networking 2 comps, with cable internet through one

I have 2 dell computers and an ethernet switch. I have both the computers hooked up to the switch and one of the computers (which has 2 network cards) is also connected to the net. I want to share files and internet access. How can I do this? Can I connect the cable modem directly to the switch, then share that? please help!

Remove one network card from 1 computer, place it in the other. If your switch has enough ports for both computers and you are paying for 2 static ip addresses, plug your cable modem into the uplink port in the switch, then connect each computer to the ports in the switch via cat5 cables.

Did you make a mistake in putting switch instead of hub?

If you did and you are paying for 1 static ip address, purchase an inexpensive router, hook it up to your switch, connect both computers to it. A router also adds the benefit of ip address translation, which allows 1 ip address to be turned into many and a "firewall".
