HELP! Netgear Wirless Router not working at all!

I have Netgear WGR614 router and I followed all the instructions. I have no ISP software installed and everything is set to obtain IP and DNS automatically. I plug ethernet out of computer and modem. Connect one out of modem to router, and router to computer. All the lights work fine as described in the manual. And I power on modem, power on router, and then power on computer. And this is the part that makes no sense. I can't connect to the router from the computer. All the lights look fine on the router, but I tried everything from setting manual IP address of 192.168.0.1, which is in the range for the router to different combinations of plugging in wires. When I type in that IP address into browser to connect to router for router setup/login, it searches for it and then brings up a pop-up that says search page could not be found. I'm using Windows XP PRO by the way.

I think this router may be defective! Has anyone had problems on their first try to getting the computer to see the router!?!? This is ridiculous!!

finally got my dlink 624 working. was having the same problem. i read the instructions and it said to hold the reset button in for 10 seconds while powered on. put 192.168.0.1
on browser, ran wizard and now works perfect. mine was a used router.

Hey! Thanks for your help! It worked! APARRENTLY, I bought it new, but it was a returned unit bought from Circuit City so the previous person's settings were still there!!!! I knew something wasn't right when the wire wasn't folded properly! I can't believe they don't reset it!!!! STUPID FOOLS!!
