Hi,
I've got a small LAN (11 systems) at the wife's office (animal hospital). All are running Win98 (or Win98SE). All have TCP protocol loaded (with No Bindings) for internet access via DSL line (static IPs). All have Netbeui Protocol loaded (bound to File/Print Sharing and MS Network login) because the Vet Software only runs under that. They are all configured as a workgroup (using "workgroup" as the group) and can all see each other fine. Just bought a new Dell Optiplex 260, which I threw out the Windows XP home that came with it, and started from scratch with Win98SE and loaded all drivers.
It can cruise the internet fine with TCP/IP. But can't see the workgroup using Netbeui even though I swear everything is configured identical to the Network Settings on the other machines. I gave it a unique name, put it in "workgroup", added Netbeui with the same bindings but it only sees itself using Network Neighborhood (under its own workgroup). None of the other machines see it even though its on the same lan.
Any ideas...wasted 2 hours trying to figure out what should be a simple 5 minute job putting it in the workgroup?
Thanks,
Steve
