Ok,

My Intel is officially dead and I'm ready to take the plunge. One thing tho...does the Neo2 Plat have a working AGP/PCI lock? I need to know as I'm running SATA drives and they don't respond well to OC'ing.

The system is as follows:

Neo2 Plat
A64 3200+ (Thinking about 3500+)
Corsair TwinX 3200PT

I plan on picking it up @ Monarch Computers...wish they had an Anandtech discount...everyone here speaks so highly of them. Thoughts please before I dump this money.

I know the nForce3 250/Ultra chipsets have such locks, and that's what's used by the Neo2, so you should be fine.

(On a side note, check out the stickied 939 Memory Matrix in the CPU/OC forum to see why the XMS [[or whatever that was]] isn't necessary [[versus standard value RAM]]. Could save you a little money.)

Clarity/specificity revisions are in double brackets above.

Thanks ts3433...

The memory isn't the XMS low latency stuff, it's the middle range memory. I don't think spending another $70+ to gain 2-2-2 is benificial other then benchmarks either, as that post stated. I recently tested some OCZ 3200 2-2-2 against my Crucial 3-3-3 on my Intel and I couldn't notice any difference. Benchmarks went up a few % points, but nothing else I could notice.

Yes, the K8N NEO2 has a working PCI/AGP lock. You have to enable it in BIOS setup by setting the AGP speed to 67.
