i upgraded to a 1080 but I do not think I'm getting the most out of it. I came from a 290 which was very good for the price I got it for my I passed it on to my cousin. I do not know but I'm getting huge fps dips in games and for a card at the top of the stack at this time it is quite underwhelming. Going from 60 at this minute to 19 in a second is quite annoying especially in tomb raider where performance is horrid.

I need your help. I have an Amazon card to use at the moment on what I should do because I feel like I wasted my money. The card can be return but I need suggestion on what to on a whole.

I5 4670k at stock as a higher OC does not seem stable right now.

8GB of ram at 1600 as reported by the bios

Z87 a stock extreme 4 and 750 watt PSU

I could see with the performance of the 290 not being that good but not a 1080.

I game at 1440p but the reason I'm writing because their is an imbalance somewhere with this 1080 and I need it fixed. Thanks for the help. If suggesting the best upgrade I should go with select it from Amazon since I have a credit card with them.

Do you have the latest drivers installed? Try disabling some graphics settings your games. Some of them enabled will tank performance even with very high end cards.

Yes I do have the latest drivers havent really tried to turn do down settings but the minimums and fps spikes is annoying. Geothermal valley for tomb raider goes down to like 17 fps and that is with the basic for anti aliasing fxaa.

Try turning off or lowing FXAA. You might also try upgrading your memory to 16GB.

Any suggestions on what to go with? Is another cpu platform worth it? Just try your best to help me. I need to fix this issue asap.

Crucial is good for memory. Your CPU is fine. Are you playing Tomb Raider or Rise of the Tomb Raider?

Almost forgot, turn off Vsync. Some games will tank hard if this is enabled.

Rise of the tomb raider, areas are fine but it's that particular area that sucks from a performance point of view plus with vsync off I get screen tearing. I know that price to performance ratio of the 1080 is bad but whenever I look at the performance I'm currently getting downgrading to 1070 while cheaper will make it even worse since in some games it's like a 20 fps difference. GTA 5 also has major frame rate issues where it stutters like crazy. Witcher 3 on the other hand performs mile better when compared to those.

Offhand the only thing else I can think off is both RotTR and GTA V have problems with the 1080 and need to be patched. You could set the graphic settings to low and then work your way up to see what is causing the problem.

So you don't think it's an issue with the cpu? I heard those games are cpu limited. The thing is though I'm really trying to justify the 1080s price but it's very hard to do and then again all the other cards performance worse but they are substantially cheaper.

You should order the same stick(s) you already have in your computer. It's always best to have matching sticks that are the same speed and timings.

No need for FYL, as Kingston has tested and certified that RAM kit to work with your motherboard.
