Hi I need you help to figure out if my processor is dead.
E6600
DS3 965 rev 3.3
DS3 P35 L
cosair hx 620
8800 gtx
baffalo firestix 800 2x1gb

The computer died on xmas morning. It would turn on, but reboot within 3 secs. I rma the board (965 ds3) and just got it back on weds. I now powers on, but it gets no signal to monitor. I thought the vid card was dead, so i went out and got a cheapo and tried it and got the same results. Took that card back...Thought the psu was the issue so i tried a different one and got the same results.
Spent about and hr with Gigabyte support on the issue and we couldn't get it to work. Got a Ds3 p35L a couple mins ago and it does the same thing. No signal to video........The only thing that hasn't been changed is the processor and the memory . I get no beep codes to say invalid ram, and on the phone with gigabyte we couldn't get a been code for the vid card.

If you made is this far, do you think the cpu is hosed? will give me a reason to get a 8400 :). Process is still under warranty, so i'll be packing that one up to send back soon.

Even though it's a good PS, that could have failed. Normally, CPU and RAM should be quite robust, unless perhaps you were overclocking one or both? Another thing to try if you haven't already is to just try one stick of RAM at a time, which should tell you if just one stick of RAM has gone bad.

Success! You guys were right after one month of cursing and swearing. Its alive!! Both sticks of memory went bad, so im gonna rma these. I now have an extra MB, so i guess i'll have to fill it with an 8400 anyway.

and your welcome.

I'm pretty sure if it was a dead mobo or cpu it wouldnt of even turned on, same goes with a psu sometimes.

Memory is usually the fault of most cases.
