hi!

i was hoping that you guys and gals might be able to help me out..
My setup is as follows (at the moment!!)

NF7-s Rev 2 with latest bios released installed
xp2500 @ 2.17ghz (10.5x206) @ 1.625vcore (set in bios) very stable (at the moment)
geforce 3 ti 200 )going to upgraded to a 9800 pro soon)
adaptec 29160LP card & a seagate cheetah 36gig HD 10k spin HD
maxtor 120 gig hd - storage
pioneer dvd-rw/rom drives
chenbro gaming case
spire falcon rock 2 cooler
standard 360w psu

now i have been having problems of late (i imagine due to the lack of power my current psu gives) as i have recently plugged in my scsi drive and things start shutting down... :(
i was thinking of upgrading to these few bits as i figured it would garrentee better performance than i have currently...

Antec true power 550w psu
Vantec Nexus NXP-305-SL Fan & Light Controller (with the 2 lights and loads of connections for under £27!!)
thermalright slk-900a/u heatsink
vantec tornado 92 mm fan

now the reason for the fan controller is that i can control the noise of the two 120mm fans i have at the moment (but i cant use them because of my current psu and the noise would bug me) and the 92mm tornado i would like to get for my heatsink that i buy.
im a little confused as to which thermalright heatsink to buy, so which one would anyone heartly recommend? and is the hardware i have mentioned buying any good? should i consider changing anything?

im sorry for the long message, but im a little confused and wanting some good advice as to what to buy..
thank you for your time and i look forward to the replies :) thanks again :)

I have an SLK-800A (clip on) HS on my NF7-S and 2500+. It keeps it nice and cool, but my room is also very cold. An SLK-800A or U would probably be fine. Otherwise, the only difference between the SLK-900A and U is that the A clips on, and is less secure than the U, which screws on.

You don't need a 550w PSU. An Antec True430 should be enough, but if money is no issue...

i was more concerned with having more than enough power in reserve more than anything, hence the big 550W'er..

i was a little confused with the SLK-900A/U... i didnt really know what was the difference!

at the moment my temps are about 42c in the bios, i use motherboard monitor and that can vary from 39c to a nasty 54c. both are on a full load temp (i use ud agent all the time in the back ground) when i get the heatsink, regardless of which one, i will be upping the vcore to a nice 1.85v should the temps be on the right side of 50c. i aim to be getting somewhere near to 2.5ghz and 40 to 45c with a full load.. anything else (being lower obvously) would be nice, but all depends on how high i can get the cpu without using to much vcore..

I can only recommend a TSP (Top Selected Power) 420 P4 Ultra Silent power supply. It really is ultra-silent (as the name suggests). It gets quite hot but I have yet to hear if anyone having stability problems with it (I certainly don't have any). And as for a 550W power supply, you won't really need it; if you get a quality power supply with 360W it would probably do the job - 360W is not always the same as 360W (take a look at a power supply roundup at any good tech site and there you'll see that the capacity doesn't depend just on the Watts).
In some shops you may also already get the TSP 450 P5 Ultra Silent which is the same as the 420 but has 450W. It is a little pricey at about ?90 but you certainly won't have any trouble with your power supply anymore!

well like i said before, i was worried about having not enough power and that was why i was going to go with the 550W psu, i figured it would give me the best amount of stabilty and even tho it would perhaps cost more than a lot of the gear i have in the pc, £100 was something that if i want stabilty it would be worth while buying!

as i live in england, im not sure where to get most of the brands that you mention, i have found it hard trying to track down a graphics card i have wanted to buy! i might go for a smaller psu tho, if you guys think that 550w is over the top...

im just ordering a Thermalright SLK-900U heatsink for under £28.. i cant find any others as cheap or in stock and i have read that the 947U isnt as good as the 900U/A model so i figured that would be ideal! i bought it from here

just another question, would a antec 480 true blue be more than enough for my requirements?
