Hello everyone. I'm not sure where exactly I should post my question so I've chosen General Hardware. Excuse me if I've mistaken. Well, my question is - I have a Gygabyte mobo with i845PE chipset and P4@2.4 (533 bus). Well, I want to know if it is possible to put a P4 CPU (800 bus) on a mobo with i845PE chipset. Are P4 at 533 bus and P4 at 800 bus "electrically" compatible? If I purchase DDR400 and P4 with 800 bus is it possible to put them on my i845PE mobo? The FSB of the mobo could be theoretically clocked even more than 200 MHz. but is i845PE chipset stable at such speeds? I know that this chipset also supports hyperthreading and since the mobo is new I'm not inclined to change it if I am able to get a P4 at 800 bus running fine.
 
I dont believe the I845 chipset is designed to operate at 800mhz, however, you would purchase an 800fsb proc and it would run in that machine, and hyperthreading would work. But it would be underclocked due to the 533fsb instead of the 800fsb.
