I have been running ZA Free version for years now. Today is patch Tuesday, so I got an update to Win XP SP3 and I installed it. A few hours later, I could not access the internet. Ipconfig says everything is up and running, and all of my other machines in the house are fine, but one desktop has no access to the Internet. I can ping, telnet, etc. out, but no browser access.

So I turn off ZA and everything works fine. I scrub ZA from my computer, download latest version, reinstall...no help. Still same problem.

I manually delete and re-enter the DNS and DHCP server IP addresses in the "Zones" tab in ZA to no avail.

What else can I do? What could have caused this sudden ZA problem?

Thanks,

Pradeep

Thanks bruceb for the help. I actually checked the ZA site a few times and could not find anything useful. At least they are responsive and are working on it!

Also, in ZA, drop the internet zone security slider from high to medium. This will restore the internet.

ZA is OK withs single computer system.

Otherwise, since its inception it is always trouble when used on LAN Computers.

ZA was good when it first came out, but I can track many problems because of it through the years. Sygate was by far the best - until Symantec got their grubby little hands on it.

Uninstall za and reinstall new version and all is well. A very quick tempest in a teapot. Newest version with fix is 7.0.483.000. Nice that Checkpoint got on top of it so fast.

No I do not use zone alarm and hence have no reason to defend them, but why blame zone alarm when its due to microsoft? Its also my understanding this same KB951748 is causing other fits with some routers.
