Help needed with printer settings in WinXP

Hello,
In previous versions of Windows, I am able to go to a printer's settings and turn off things like the banner page and separator page. Also, I can specify the type and size of labels used in a label printer. After installing Windows XP pro and the same printers on a machine, I can now only get to a separator page option. I cannot disable the banner page and I am unable to specify a paper size for the label printer. Does anyone know of a way to get to these options? The label printer is an old Epson LQ 870 using 3.5" by 15/16" labels. This printer does have a Windows XP driver pre-loaded.
Thanks for the help!

Try using the drivers from Epson. In older versions of Windows, you had to provide the manufacturer's driver to get it to work. That's probably why you got all those options. While the Windows XP drivers get your label printer working, it might not include all the options that the Epson drivers include.

Epson LQ870 Downloads

Doesn't look like they have Windows XP drivers for that printer though.

Question: Should I use Epson's drivers or the drivers provided from Microsoft with the Windows XP software?

Answer: If you use the Epson Windows 2000 or Windows 2000/XP drivers from the Epson Support web site you will receive all functions and features the printer offer. If you use the Microsoft Windows XP built-in driver, you will be able to print but you will not be able to use the following functions:

Ability to check your ink levels

Ability to print at 2880dpi (if your printer supports that resolution)

Advanced Color Management features

Advanced Page Layout features like watermarks, multi-page support, or doublesided printing (if your printer supports this feature)

If these features are important to you or your printer isn't automatically supported by Windows XP please download the latest Windows 2000 or Windows 2000/XP Driver from the Epson support website.

Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you, I appreciate the effort. I had already looked at their site and downloads and they do not offer any printer drivers beyond Windows 3.1 for the LQ 870.
