Greetings,
I'm building myself a HTPC. My last 7 systems where all AMD based. But with C2D I guess going back to Intel.
Parts I have:
1- OCZ (OCZ2T8002GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Titanium XTC EPP-Ready Edition 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit
2- Asus X800XL (video card)
I will not be playing any games or anything other than Decoding 1080P H.264 or unraring the occasional porn 😉 Since I can't unload on my vid card I was thinkning on getting the best bang for the buck C2D (most prob 6300) and overclocking it.
My problem is more chipset related (clueless here on intel chipset). I would like a stable and cheap montherbord. ATX is fine btw and if possible would like a good sound chip with optical out (won't purchase sound card (Unless integrated sound is really bad)). I plan on purchasing it a couple of weeks (2-3).
Should I hold out for X38? Worth it for me? (Doubt it)...
Any recomendations will be appreciated.
Thanks for you time.
Bob
