Help needed with installing 2nd SATA HDD on VNF3-250

Hi,
I have a Chaintech VNF3-250 with the 7/29/04 BIOS, and it was running perfectly with the following IDE drives
IDE0 Master - IBM 80GB PATA HDD
IDE0 Slave - Lite-On 12X DVD burner
IDE1 Master - WD 120GB PATA HDD
IDE1 Slave - Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM
IDE2(SATA0) - Hitachi 160GB SATA HDD

I just got a new Seagate 7800.8 250GB SATA HDD and I'm trying to replace the Hitachi as SATA0 and move the Hitachi as SATA1. When I do so, the system gives 2 long beeps but eventually POSTs after a few seconds, but freezes after IDE detection(all drives are detected fine) for about 2 minutes before moving on.

I've set the HDD boot priority to Seagate, Hitachi, IBM, WD in that order, which is what I want.

When I try to partition/format/install Windows XP on the new Seagate, the installation takes quite a while before reaching the partition menu. In fact, everything seems to move along really slowly. When I'm finally at the Windows setup menu, it tells me that it already detects a C:\Windows folder. Shouldn't my new Seagate be C:\ coz of my boot priority? Instead, it's E, with the PATA IDE drives(not even the Hitachi SATA) being C:\ and D:

I went ahead and partitioned/formatted/setup my new Seagate with XP, and upon the first reboot, I changed the boot order to HDD first instead of CD-ROM, but after this, it freezes at "verifying dmi pool data.... update success"(code 96) for like 5 minutes before telling me that it couldn't load the OS.

Does anyone know what's going on? I switched back to my original HDD configuration(removing the Seagate) and everything goes back to normal, with no beeps when POSTing
