Help needed with digital LCD

This is my first digital monitor, so I'm not sure what I did wrong. I'm using a Samsung Synchmaster 204B (20.1", black, digital LCD) on an eVGA Geforce 6800GT (PCI-E).

The monitor works fine if I connect the regular VGA (RGB) cable to the monitor, but if I use the DVI cable, the entire screen flashes black about once every 10 seconds. However, when I go to certain websites or try to install certain things that involve the screen changing very quickly, the monitor will just continuously flash black, so quickly that I can't see the desktop / webpage, etc.

I installed the latest drivers (11/11/2005) from Samsung's website. My graphics drivers were already current, but I tried reinstalling them anyway. The monitor is running in 1600x1200, 32 bit color, and 60Hz refresh rate.

Is there a setting I need to tweak, or something that I forgot to connect? Thanks in advance for the help.

My AGP 6800GT has been driving a number of LCDs for years now with nary a flicker. An incompatibility between the two is a definite possibility though...have you tried taking it to another computer that has DVI? Maybe a friend's house?

Before this one, I had a Samsung 915N (analog) on it, and it worked great. I'm really thinking it's something about the DVI on this card. My brother has the same monitor, and a 7900GS. I'm about to go try that out.

If your monitor stops flickering when you connect it to your bother's computer, then you know the monitor is okay. However, before blaming your video card, try using a different DVI cable. If it still flickers with a different DVI cable, then you will know that the fault lies with the video card's DVI output.
