I'm going to explain to you the problem, and you will fix it for me. Thanks for playing. Here we go.

My computer boots up fine with the original v.10 BIOS. When I go to flash the BIOS to v. 15 everything goes smoothly. Even when it finishes the POST, I get the message saying "Updating DMI Pool Data..................Update Success" and then Verifying DMI Pool Data....................Success. And then all hell breaks loose. And by that I mean nothing happens. It just tries to access my floppy drive and then stops, no Windows, no nothing. So I re-boot, and it goes fine until I get to the Verifying DMI Pool Data, and then nothing.

When I revert back to the original v.10 BIOS, everything boots up normally, so this can't be a problem with my hard drive, can it? I don't know if I'm missing a setting in my BIOS or what, but this is really pissing me off.

For the record, I've tried re-setting the CMOS, loading the default settings in the BIOS, voodoo and ritual sacrifices (making sure to keep the motherboard blood free, of course). Nothing has worked.

I've got a message out at the Abit forums, as well as an e-mail to Abit's tech support. I figured I'd ditch those amateurs and come seek the counsel of the professionals.

My specs are as follows:

P4 2.8c
Abit IS7-G
1024MB Corsair TwinX PC3200
Radeon 9800 Pro
Maxtor 20 GB 7200RPM HDD (Master with OS)
WD 120 GB Caviar SE HDD (Slave)
Generic CD-RW
Up to date Windows XP with SP1

Ok guys, go to work...
