I recently purchased an evga 275 gtx card to upgrade from an older 8800GT card, along with a WD raptor 300GB HD. due to the hard drive i reinstalled windows XP. After doing a complete driver update, bios update i am still having issues getting the 275 to run at all.

When the 8800GT is installed the the computer will post and boot into windows. When the 275 is installed the computer wont even post. The power will come on,but im stuck with a no post.

Currently i have the following:
abit ip35 pro
intel q6600 @ stock speeds
Raptor 300GB HD
500GB 7200 RPM data drive
CD/DVD Ram player
5 120 MM fans

This is running on an Ultra X-3 800 watt PSU, which has had no issues. Any help or tips is appreciated.

What bios number are you running?

Also be sure you have all the PCI-E connectors plugged into the card. It's easy to forget, I did the first time.

It could always be a bad card as well.

The latest bios from abits website, M629B17, its about a year old if i remember correctly. i downloaded it last week due to getting the new parts in.

When installing the 275 video card, upon starting the video card fan runs, but the computer shuts down. At this point, the system reboots and runs, but the video card does not react at all, which is strange since the psu should handle the wattage and amps easily.

Try using/moving different PEG power cables? That is a modular PSU, right?

I swapped out the pci-e cables a couple of times. One cable works fine for sure, and it works with the 8800. As far as connectors ive tried several combonations. Ill give it another shot tommorw, getting a bit frustrated.

ill check into that beta bios, cant figure why it would be a bios problem though.

Well, I'm no expert on bios engineering but there could be something that isn't recognizing the card. Similar to how they adjust for a new CPU stepping and the BIOS will see it while older ones didn't. I never had a problem with v17 BIOS and my GTX280 had before I got the 295. Neither card was an issue.

If worst comes to worst test the card in another machine and verify the card is working if you can, or just RMA it.
