Help Needed to Remove Windows Desktop Icon

Greetings,
Some technical help would be highly appreciated. Here's my problem.
While doing a fresh install of Windows 98SE on a new Maxtor hard drive, I inadvertently
created a "Desktop Explorer" icon on the Windows desktop that I have never seen before.

This icon does absolutely nothing and I want to remove it. However, I cannot find a method to delete it! Right clicking on the icon does not bring up a menu with a cut or delete function. Furthermore, I cannot delete it in Windows Explorer either. Believe it or not I have spent two hours trying to get rid of it and I'm at wit's end. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Text🙁

Usually if you drag that icon to the recycle bin it will just tell you it is too big to fit in the bin but would you like to delete it anyway. Click yes and you're done. If for some reason the regular method doesn't work, try dragging it with the right mouse button. However, yes, TweakUi will remove it.

Hey Buz, thanks very much for the suggestion, but that also doesn't work dragging it into Recycle Bin.
I'll try WW's suggestion and give Tweakiu a shot.

Greatly appreciated,

BDP
