I am a supervisor at the department I work in and found out that one of my subordinates is stealing magazines from his coworkers. Apparently, he calls up the magazine companies that his coworkers order personally and pretends he is the subscriber and switches the delivery address to himself.

He has been warned about it and the company has decided not to take action because it does not involve the company.

I feel that I can't drop this and I want to get him back for the other coworkers cuz that guy is a dirtbag. What can I do?

My ideas:

1) Find out personal email and sign him up to crazy amounts of junkmail
2) Chip in and order gay porn magazines delivered to his house
3) anything else?

Edit

- He's in the union, so he can't be fired.
- Security services already investigated and cannot do anything about it (in regards to the company)
- Coworkers bring magazines to work and the bastard just copied the subscription information
- Magazine company already fixed problem
- YES, I AM A SUPERVISOR!

just have him arrested for stealing. Are the mags still subscribed to your coworkers but just delivered to that scumbag's house? I mean that is pretty hard evidence right there.

I would say chip in for gay porn, but the asshat may actually enjoy that.

They were switched back but it's petty theft. He'll get a fine at the most and people would have to go to court for that. He won't lose his job here either. I'd rather do something mean in return.

Handle this professionally.

If you are indeed the supervisor, you need to step up to the plate and handle this properly. Who made the decision that it does not involve the company? This can't be good for morale.

Tell him to cut the sh!t and undo what he's done. If he refuses, fire his butt. Just make damn sure he's actually stealing and it's not just some strange coincedence before you take action.

Do it anyway, it will be a lot of trouble for him.

just steal his magazines then. Better yet, change his mailing address to somewhere else.

If he's willing to do something so stupid like that, how do you know he will not, or is not stealing from the company right now?

He probably is. In my experience, people who steal, steal at nearly every opportunity.

your suggestions seem highly unprofessional for a supervisior.

take him into your office and tell him if he does it again you will fire him.
if he doest it again, fire him.

Sounds good to me. But, that would be unprofessional.

The matter has already been reviewed with HR and security services. The decision is final on a warning. All of us disagree but that's what upstairs is saying so we have to resort to other means!

Dang what kind of company are you a supervisor at? I can't imagine any supervisor wanting to "get back" at an employee by signing him up for spam or something. Not only would you be lowering yourself to his level you would be losing any credibility you have in your leadership position. This is also something that could easily come back to bite you.

Maybe let the subscribers take care of it themselves?

I mean if I PAID for a subscription and it suddenly stopped coming, I'd call.

How the hell does he know what magazines his co-workers subscribe to?
