I have a decent processor, good mb, plenty of ram and the #1 rated external HD you can buy (popularity, not necessarily the best performer) ...
Tonight I plugged 2 externals into the front USB panel of my Antec tower and I am trying to transfer about 350GB of data from a WD Passport 500gb to a WD Passport 2TB so that I can begin using the 2TB for backup.
I am using TeraCopy and getting between 128 kb/s and 6 mb/s (mostly under 1mb/s) and I can't figure out why. Both drives are USB 3.0 and they are connected to the correct USB 3.0 slots on the front panel (there are 4 slots and only 2 are USB 3.0). They both are using the supplied USB 3.0 cabels.
I don't expect 400mb/s but seriously what can do to check where the bottle neck is because I should be getting way faster transfers than I am.
UPDATE: So I ran Hard Drive Sentinel Pro and found that the older of the 2 drives is at 18% health. So... I'm trying to backup and repair but currently the backup transfer is going incredibly slow =)
