Hi. I am currently building a new *Gaming* machine, and considering which motherboard I should get. I have already purchased GTX 260 and I don't think I will need 2 cards because I am only running 1440x900 --> so intel chipset is good. I am considering getting Q6600 and overclock it to 3.2-3.5 (if possible). I will really appreciate if all of you professionals could answer a few questions of mine.

(1) I am considering P45 board for its price and over-clockability (if there is such word). I am also only gonna use 1 video card, so I am really gonna need one PCIe2.0x16 slot. Do I really need an extra x8 slot on some of P45 boards?

(2) Right now, I am considering either one of those: (a) GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R - 115 AR, (b) GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P - 100 AR FS, or (c) ASUS P5Q Pro - 115 AR. Do you guys have any preference or all of those are equally good?

Thank you so much for your help. I will actually ask another question regarding memory in another thread, but if you could, please tell me want you think too. (a) OCZ Reaper HPC 2x2gb 4-4-4-15 for 25 AR FS, or (b) CORSAIR XMS2 DHX 2x2gb 4-4-4-12 for 40 AR FS. Thanks

Either of those boards is fine for what you're planning on doing. Lol GTX 260 for a 1440 x 900 resolution? Uber overkill. Hopefully, you'll upgrade your monitor in the future!

Yes. That's what I'm planning to do. And I got my 260 for like $150 on ebay before, after live.com cash back.

Go for either one of the Gigabyte boards, they are very friendly in terms of overclocking and are generally preferred over the P5Q for OC'ng and most everything else.

Might as well go with the UD3P too if it's cheaper AR than the UD3R.

Where did you find the UD3p for $100 AR FS. Looks like a nice deal as am also interested in that board
