i swapped my MoBo over from a KT133a Gigabyte board to the ECS K7S5A board.

i thought the board was in good condition, but .....................

i hit the power button, the CD-ROM light lights up (on for about 10 seconds then off then on)
the FDD light lights up & stays lite, but put a disk in & it doesnt try & read it.

theres no picture, have had the monitor flicker out of standby but not for long.

theres no keyboard lights at all,

the LAN cards' light flickers as per normal.

the fans are going

i unplugged all the IDE cables & the CD-ROM & FDDs' lights go on & off like a normal boot.

but above all theres no beep codes at all.
the speaker cable is plugged in , but no internal sound at all.

makes me things its set up ok, but cant get a picture or any beeps

i am beginning to think the board is damaged ????

anyone had this before ???
i have cleared CMOS too......

checked RAM & VGA in (often get caught there)

thanx for any help, bit of a rush to get my system up & running again , u know

Try reseatting the RAM and video card. If that doesnt solve it then I agree with this:

<< i am beginning to think the board is damaged ???? >>

I had the same exact problem with my second ECS k7s5a and I tried 2 PSUs, 2 cpus, 4 sticks of ram, and 2 video cards. I even built the entire comp out of case on wood to make sure it wasnt being shorted out. It turns out there was a problem with the mobo so I had to RMA it.

right , so ya think its a hardware problem hey

everything was working fine an hour ago with my other board in there....

the board was suspect, but was working, had replaced but then found the system it came froms' CPU was damaged, so this board has been sitting in the spare room for a month, thought i'd use it seeings it had SD & DDR
would make my transfer to DDR cheaper having the board already.

anyway i diegress,

if its hardware, my first suspect then is of course the MoBo,

dunno why it was working in the system it came from then........

Well here is a quick question for you: What size PSU are you currently using to try and power the mobo?

if the cpu from the other computer was damaged, it doesn't necessarily mean the mobo wasn't at fault, the voltage regulator could have beeen fried if it was hit by lightning, or it could have been ESD'd. I would try for an RMA

also are you absolutely sure the motherboard isn't partially grounding out on one of the standoffs? maybe one is offset?

what do you mean by grounding out ???

am running a 300watt Aopen.

its powered my Gigabyte board in there no troubles,

have tried turning it on without any IDE devices attach & uplugged one of the system fans too, no difference
