im trying to setup a new am2 comp. after i connected everything, all the fans including cpu fan, video card fan and case fan can work, but the system cannot be lit, even my keyboard and optical mouse were not powered up, and my dvd writer was not powered on either. i have tried my video card (evga7800gtx) and ram(2G Crucial ddr2 800) on the other computer. both of them are fine. so I think it is the problem of the mb. now newegg gives the option of refund or replacement. The mb has all the feature i need, but i do wanna make sure if its just my luck or there is some compatibilty issue btewwen the mb and my video card or ram. pls give me some advice if u had any experience with this biostar am2 nforce4 ultra mb.

If your DVD drive is not powered on, then I think the problem is with your power supply. Even if you don't connect the drive to the motherboard, it should still open and close the case with the power from the power supply.

Check the position of the cmos jumper. If left open by the manufacturer, you have to move it over towards the open pin. 2 of the 3 pins are always covered. Some manufacturer's leave it open to save the battery from running down. If all else fails, try placing the board outside of the case on a phonebook or cardboard box. With just the cpu/heatsink, one stick of memory, and video, try getting it to post.
