Help Needed..installing 3570/Gigabyte Motherboard/Won't turn on

I am installing a new motherboard today..something I have done a couple times in the past. It is a Gigabyte motherboard...I have the processor installed...both of the main power cords from the power supply are connected...I hit the power button as a test to make sure system was getting juice before connecting everything else...I was hoping to at least get a beep and fans going...nothing happens..dead silence..no movement. Starting to panic..not sure what it could be.
 
Reseat the memory and check for bent pins on the motherboard. Also check all your header connections to the front panel. If you plug your USB header into the firewire, the power supply won't even spin up.
 
I hate to do it. but I am going to use the stock cooler just to see if I can get it working. I was trying to install a hyper evo. I checked for bent pints on motherboard..I think I had it installed correctly..just had to take it apart to see if CPU was seated properly.
 
I put the old board back in and it booted up. It is not a power supply issue. If board doesn't boot up, is it defective board? Even if it was bad I thought I would get some sort of system response..even if it is just the fans kicking on for a short time.
 
Is the new board compatable with IB out of the box or does it need an updated bios? I'd think either way you'd see some form of life out of it but haven't tried it to see.

This might be it. OP needs to freaking give specs. Doesn't even say the mobo model number. Come on dude.
 
The first Z68 board I had, which stated it was ready for 22nm CPUs, was not Ivy Bridge compatible out of the box. Of course, I couldn't flash the BIOS either since I had no Sandy Bridge CPU available to do so.

You could just have a bad board though. Unfortunately, it happens.

Yup, Asus tend to lie about everything. :sneaky:

For example, all of the special features they put on the front of the box hurt overclocking. which is ironic.
 
What are you trying to accomplish by getting new mobo over one you had ?

Why do it in the first place........ you think your mobo is gonna speed up the CPU no nope it doesn't work that way....
