Guys, I just got my 3rd scsi drive & am trying to setup my server.
But none of the drives are recognized/responding 🙁

Got it to detect the CDrom 🙂

Are they not detected in the BIOS, or just in the operating system install or what?

I know that if you are trying to install Windows 2000, the install program won't recognize your drive unless they are on the IDE channel (as opposed to the SCSI or RAID channel).

there isn't a master/slave in SCSI, you can have up to 7 drives on each channel (more on other cardS)
I set each hdd, to an ID (0,1,2) so the topmost (end connector) is for ID 1, & Actice Term is set on that drive.

Should the ID ##'s be reversed ??

Well d00d, I've not a clue. I've not much experience with SCSI, so I won't be of much more help 🙁. Sorry.

If I think of anything or find any information, I'll direct you to the source.

thanks Roy, I PM'd the guy who sold me the card (he's quite knowledgeable) & one other guy I chatted with a bunch about SCSI & RAID. Just waiting on them....

I WANNA START INSTALLING WIN2K AS

OK dude, look to see what SCSI ID # your SCSI card is using. For instance, on Adaptec cards the SCSI card is set to SCSI ID 7. So you can't use that ID for ANY device on that channel. If your card is using ID 1 and you set you HD to 1, you're going to have problems. If your card is using SCSI ID 7, set all other devices to anything but 7 and terminate the last device and you should be good to go. Read your manual to find out what SCSI ID your card defaults to. 😉

Also (I know you probably did this already), make sure the HD you are going to boot from is set to ID 0 and ONLY the last device on the channel terminated.
