Help needed in choosing external HD

My choices at the moment are:
Maxtor OneTouch
Seagate
Western Digital

I've read some bad reviews about the Maxtor (not just the HD, but software-wise too), but it's the cheapest of the 3.

Any suggestions?

Why not get a regular internal HD and then just mount it in an external enclosure? It's cheaper that way I believe.
