Help Needed >> How to Set Up Two Routers

Hi guys,

Need your help. I currently have a Linksys router running under WPA2-Personal with AES turned on. This router has two desktops connected to it hardwired and a laptop that accesses it wirelessly. I have simple networking turned on for file sharing, printing, etc. between these three computers.

I rely on this router to keep people out, but I want to have another router on this system that will allow people to share my internet connection at a lower level of protection, maybe WPA, or even, no security (open access). This will allow customers with older hardware or people with a Palm TX, which don't support WPA2-Personal, to use the internet only.

How can I make the connection work without exposing those computers I need to keep safe? My main concern being that I don't want anyone on this secondary router to do anything but share the internet connection. I don't want them to be able to see my little network.

Do I do it as follows with a single switch between the cable modem and the two routers?

Cable Modem A -> Switch A -> Router 1 with WPA2 -> Safe Network
Cable Modem A -> Switch A -> Router 2 with WPA/Open Access

If so, then how do I control the second router?

Thanks,

Pradeep

Thanks. Will this work with two wireless routers? I want the wireless router behind the first wireless router?

Yeah, the second Router can be Wireless.

However to benefit from the security arrangement configure it with WPA2.

Disconnect one computer from the Network and connect the second router to it.

Once connected you log to the Router change its core IP to another IP of the same subnet, swich off the DHCP and waht ever else you need, the you unplug and connect evry thing togather.

Example, if the two Routers have a core IP of 192.168.1.1 set the second Router to 192.168.1.2.
