I have been listening to Trance & Electronics trakcs pretty much since I was a little kid in school, and ATM I try to edit soundtracks to my likening but fail because the software that I have is good for basic tasks (ATM I am using Nero 6.6 Wave Editor ) at the same time I can't pay for bigtime mixing hardware, so I would like to know, how can I produce Trance tracks, what do I need to learn, obtain, practice ? As I said I am not starting a career or something , I just want to make my own songs / edit my songs to what sounds nicer to me.

fruity loops and various synth emulators for to make samples, acid pro to sequence them, soundforge for tweaking samples and mastering the final mix. that's at least my method (i don't purport any claims to being a quality recording engineer or music producer)

No, not free. There should be trial versions available. Of course, there's no other way to get your hands on them

Well if you want the most fully featured digital studio, you'll end up having to spring for Protools or Cubase (i prefer cubase).

Fruityloops will do everything you need, and is much cheaper and intuative than programs like cubase or sonar.
