Help Needed: Comps are uploading 'nothing'

Here's my problem, I have a setup of 6 computers (3 desktops and 3 laptops) and 3 of them upload an average of 6.5kb/s constantly. This is a big problem since they are all shared on one 1.5/384 DSL line and it gets pretty laggy. The DSL modem is connected to a SMC 4-port router and a 8-port Linksys switch is connected to that.

Now, I can't figure out what's wrong with the computers that are uploading. All the settings are the same. Reformatting doesn't do anything. Cabling can be ruled out. Switching ports in every possible combination doesn't work.

All of them are running WinXP Pro except for one, which is running WinXP Home.

I'm left thinking that something may be wrong with the router but I'm still doubting it. I don't know what to do. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. Are you using the DSL PPPOE correctly? (i.e. PPPOE works by the Router and not by the software on the computer.)

2. Would you have this Uploading occurs if you connect these computer connect to the Switch without a connection to the Router and the Internet?

3. Did you try to take one "Uploading Computer" and connect it by itself to the DSL Modem?
