Details of the PC I am building are:
Model: EP-8K9A3+
REV: 1.0
Bios: 03-18-2003
CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
RAM: 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
VGA: SiS Xabre
Drive: Western Digital 120GB
O/S: n/a
Other: Belkin Kbd and USB Mouse
Pacific Digital CDRW
Sony DVD Drive
--Details--
I am assembling the pc with the above mentioned components. However on
startup the pc takes a very long time to recognize the IDE Drives and with
the clock and multiplier set to the default 166 X 11 for the Barton@1833
Mhz, I get an error report saying the following reported verbatim
"Warning!! CPU clock or ratio are programming fail previously.
Please setup CPU host clock again"
When I setup the CPU clock to 133 X 10 and run the CPU at a lower clock
frequency, the pc manages to boot up after a long time of almost 5 - 10
minutes and when the bootable Win XP cd runs it is not able to detect my
hard disk. I want to know if this is a problem with my motherboard or the
processor. This is the first time I am encountering such an issue. Please
help me.
I also tried the following
1. Powered down system.
2. Jumpered the Hard drive to cable select.
3. Ensured jumper JCK1 set to pin 2-3.
4. Booted up system loading the optimzied default setting.
5. Disabled Highpoint controller.
but it didn't work, can someone tell me what is wrong with the pc?
