I bought Dell's T105 server with an AMD Series 1000 Opteron chip. Does anybody know whether the mobo used in the T105 is easily swappable with a regular AM2 mobo that I can buy at Newegg. I know that historically Dell has used proporietary architecture making mobo upgrdes difficult.

Any input is highly appriciated. Thanks

T105 uses BTX design. Few (if any) retail MB uses BTX design. The answer is NO. Other dell/branded boxes use BTX too, you can swap those in though.

Probably dtx or btx form factor. Dell must have a deal with it's supplier not allowing them to sell replacement boards in their own brand. Am2 server boards are scarce. But Intel is available in btx cheap.
